Chukin Gennady Dmitrievich

Date of birth - 1938, PhD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Doctor (DrSc degree) of Chemical Sciences, Professor. Graduated Voronezh State University in 1962, specialty - physicist; received PhD degree in 1968 at Physics Department of Moscow State University, taught at the Physics Department of Moscow State University; further worked for more than 20 years in the All-Union Scientific Research Institute for Petroleum Refining (VNII NP), where he headed the Laboratory for the application of physicochemical methods for studying the structure and surface properties of adsorbents and hydrogenation refining of petroleum distillates catalysts, cracking catalysts, oil refining and petrochemistry zeolite catalysts, synthetic zeolites and carriers for catalysts and other inorganic materials. During the work in the Research Institute a scientific school of specialists in the research of heterogeneous catalysts structure and properties and of dispersed objects surface chemistry was established. A new branch of science - crystal chemistry of disperse systems - was developed, which allowed a detailed understanding of the structure and surface properties of dispersed silica, oxide and hydroxides of aluminum, aluminosilicates and synthetic zeolites. Original models of fumed silica, alumina, amorphous and crystalline aluminosilicates structures and mechanisms of their formation were proposed; mechanisms of the dispersed silica and alumina surface chemical modification to design unique properties were explored; the mechanisms of interaction of nickel, cobalt, molybdenum and other metals with the surface of solid dispersed carriers were studied. The research results were used to develop a completely hydrophobic silica adsorbents and thickeners for lubricating greases, industrial and pilot hydrotreating, hydrocracking, hydrogenation, isomerization catalysts. From 1979 to 1986 was a member of the editorial board of the journal "Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils". In 1985 was awarded as "Inventor of the USSR" for adoption by the industry of inventions. In 1988 was awarded the "Excellence in the refining and petrochemical industry in the USSR." In 1990 was awarded the medal "Veteran of Labour". Currently is a member of the Specialized Scientific Board of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Petroleum Refining (VNII NP). Recently worked as a research consultant in SIC “LUKOIL” and in the same position now is working in the LLC “PLASTNEFTEHIM”. There are 308 publications in the list of publications, including 6 monographs, 18 copyright certificates of the USSR and 6 patents of Russian Federation.
